A lot of people didn't like the 4th generation because they don't think it met the standards of the 3rd. I personally disagree, being that I despised the 3rd generation. However, the majority of people think that 4th gen was terrible. I think that it introduced a whole new graphic and control layout, and really revolutionized the series, so it has to be considered good to some extent. What's your opinions?

Well it's just this strange thing with people now that the 5th generation has been out a majority of Pokemon fans hate it well what I think they hate is the uncreative looking Pokemon. Yes I also agree that 3rd gen sucked even though they did introduce natures and made the first Pokemon remakes.

Yeah, the Pokemon were a bit bland in 4th gen, but you have to admit that it was totally more innovative then all the other generations, and it was definitely fun. Although it wasn't as fun as generation 2, I have to say it's probably right behind it for me.

I think 4th generation was a great step forward for the series, the layout and new features was inovative and very entertaining. I think that all the series where good except for the 3rd generation imo..

I hated 3rd and loved 4th :/ Better games, anime had all those 3d effects, may is an immature skank. Enough said.

Never heard of the 4th gen being underrated. It has a great story, a nice look to it, among other things.

I have heard of the 3rd gen being called "Bad"(Due to the surfing practically the entire 2nd half of the gane) and the 2nd gen being overrated, (Not sure why), but never that the 4th gen is under rated. I believe that it is one of the best generations, and I believe that many other fans do so as well.

Surfing was sooo damn annoying in the 3rd gen..

I didn't hate the 4th gen, I liked the 3rd gen a lot better though, I mean, I only started playing the 4th gen until like 2 years ago and then 5th. But I would say I preferred 3rd gen, I don't see how everyone hated it, I can understand not liking it, but overall hating it? I just don't understand, I thought the games were a lot of fun, that was back when the games weren't all "Oh the world's coming to an end." True Groudon and Kyogre could like change the earth, but it's not like making the entire earth disappear like what Dialga and Palkia can do, and I have no clue what Zekrom, Reshiram, and Kyuremu do. Seems like some "Let's end the world" type of thing. But anyways, that's just my point of view.

I honestly think that the 1st gen was the best, right in front of 2nd gen because the whole idea was so original and they didn't have all these other factors which makes the game more fun in one aspect but then makes it too complicated. I liked the basic "Super effective beats anything." haha. Yah but I think 4th gen was good. I'm enjoying the 5th gen very very much though. All the pokemon look way cooler than any other generation and the triple battles are going to be exciting. I think 3rd gen was indeed the worst.

Seriously, why does everyone hate the 3rd gen? I thought it was the best, other than this new 5th gen, it completely revamped the battle style, it first introduced double battles, it had some of the coolest poke's (well in my view). I mean, everyone's entitled to their own views, but WHY though? What was so bad about it? I'm not trying to argue, I'd just like to know. And just to let you know I was an original R/B/Y gamer, and I said 3rd gen was great.

Well heres a list of reasons why i dont like the generation to much..
-Surfing was a major part of the game after getting the HM surf you would use it alot.
-Towns where repetitive and boring (with the exception of fortree city)
-Rival was non-threatening, easy and predicatable.
-Plot was raher boring and uneventful, untill much later in the game. (and team aqua wanted to make the whole world underwater omg more sufing X( lol)
-after having a large predisessor of jhoto- which let to a whole region post elite for and champion, there wasnt much to do apart from contests which had bad replay value.
-The only good music was when battling team aqua or magma.
-Unlikable starters (except for mudkip of course)
-No transfer of pokemon from red or gold to the 3rd generation.

4th generation picked up the slack and much of the community belived that generation 3 wasnt as great when compared to jhoto or kanto.

Not trying to start an argument, this is just a rebuttal to your comment:
1) What's so bad about surfing? I actually enjoyed the music while surfing quite a lot, and true there were a lot of Wingulls, but that's what repels are for.
2) I don't see how towns were that repetitive, what do you mean? Fortree city was full of trees, we have a town ON the water, an island with a freakin' spaceship launch site, A small island that nobody lives on... I don't see where you get that from...
3) Rival was non-threatening? I had the most trouble out of any rival in this game than I ever did before, if anything first gen had the worst.
4) How was it uneventful? You get into your first Team Aqua/Magma battle before the first gym!
5) Ever play emerald? There's a whole Battle Frontier that I found even more amazing than revisiting Kanto in G/S/C/HG/SS.
6) I thought all of the music was amazing, that's a matter of opinion really, I even liked the bike music, which normally I hate.
7) Unlikable starters? That's definitely another matter of opinion, I have a hard time choosing who I'm going to use out of all of them when I replay them I like them all that much.
Cool That is true, I will agree with you on that, but that's why they made Fr/Lg to counteract that, and Emerald you could catch more pokemon that you commonly would not find in R/S.
So, again, this is not trying to argue, I'm just giving my rebuttal, you can completely think otherwise, but that's my point of view on it.

Surfing was annoying becuase you would verse alot of swimmers i found myself battling swimmers with the same water pokemon and always running into tentacools and tentacruels..
But i guess like every game it comes down to opinion like everything. I understand where you care comming from and i must say emerald was much of an improvement.

DPP were pretty good games, but HGSS i don't think were that great. once everyone got over the pretty pictures, they realized that they weren't that interesting.

I agree The game wouldn't be anything if your pokemon didn't follow you around honestly. The only cool thing are the events that happen. I have to say that the celebi traveling back in time was one of the cooliest events I've ever seen. Game Freak really got creative and I have to give them kudos for that.

But anyways, I can see where you're coming from too though, good debate, just chalk up to that we both have our opinions.

I personally liked both 3rd and 4th gen, though compared to 1st and 2nd gen pokemon designs, yes they are stupid. But lets all agree that they're running out of ideas. 2nd gen in my personal opinion was over-rated, played it, it felt unoriginal really.
